Mice & Rats
My entry for the competition: a group of pet rats recorded using a bat detector set at 52 kHz (Jude is the biggest chatterbox!) to hear the noises they make when greeting me and each other, and being tickled - oh yes, they can laugh... never underestimate a rat. ;)
Rats don't continually squeak (TV footage is always dubbed), their pops and whistles just happen to be above our hearing range.
